Located at the heart of the French Institute, the Media Library is a warm and welcoming space with areas for relaxation, study, and reading — free and open to everyone.
Beyond books, you will find a wide selection of audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, video games, digital resources, and internet access. The collections cater to all tastes and ages and are regularly updated.
Every day, the entire team takes pride in welcoming and advising you, as well as offering selections, new arrivals, and personal favorites. Always attentive, the librarians answer your questions and guide you through the services and collections so you can make the most of your visit.
The Media Library of the French Institute of Mauritius is a true hub of life, exchange, and discovery. It offers a regular program centered on reading, writing, culture, and ideas. Designed to accommodate different formats, this space allows flexible arrangements thanks to adaptable furniture that meets a variety of needs.
Throughout the year, the Media Library hosts a range of events. For example, on the first Saturday of each month, it offers the “Heure des Filous” or the “Heure des Petits,” shared sessions for children and parents. These moments provide an opportunity to discover the joy of reading from an early age while giving adults a chance to engage in discussions about early childhood.

Culturethèque is the French Institute’s digital media library.
A must-have platform for French cultural centers abroad, Culturethèque offers its users tens of thousands of online resources: novels, music, audiobooks, leading French press titles, comics, children’s books, and self-training modules.

Discover your Media Library’s online catalog! Available 24/7, our catalog allows you to easily search for all available documents (books, DVDs, magazines, etc.) with simple or advanced search. As a member, you can also access your personal account, renew your loans, and reserve documents.
Need more time to consult the borrowed materials? Write to us on WhatsApp at 55 00 26 67 or call us at 465 52 22 to request a one-month extension for your items.
Have items to return but the Media Library is closed? You can drop them off in the return boxes located at both entrances of the French Institute.
Please note: make sure not to be late! A fine of one rupee per day, per item, will be applied. More importantly, returning items late prevents other users from enjoying them.

- Private booking of the media library on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings (2500 Rs per hour for a group of 25 to 30 students, reduced rate of 1250 Rs for partner schools)
