In partnership with France Éducation International, the Institut français offers you the opportunity to take a French Proficiency Test (TCF) tailored to your needs.
At the end of the test, your level will be assessed according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1 to C2). TCF certificates are valid for 2 years.

The results certificate will be sent to the candidate by email.

Do you need to certify your French level for economic immigration to Canada or for obtaining Canadian citizenship?
The TCF Canada is accredited by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It is also recognized by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration (MIFI) for immigration applications in Quebec.
TCF Canada is available in paper-based or computer-based versions. Preparation courses are also offered.
Do you need to certify your French level for obtaining a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) leading to a permanent residence visa?
The TCF Québec is available as a computer-based test.
You may choose to take 1, 2, 3, or 4 sections, depending on the needs of your immigration application.

From May 12, 2025, the TCF IRN will allow assessment up to B2 level.
Following the enactment of Law No. 2024-42 of January 26, 2024, the new government requirements for French proficiency will be applied by the authorities no later than January 1, 2026:
To anticipate these new requirements, the TCF IRN allows candidates to be assessed up to B2 starting May 12, 2025.
